Marie’s journey through fitness started with her love for athletics as a youth. After her sports activities began to slow down the weight gain began… assisted by a few too many scoops of ice cream and orders of fries with gravy.

After always being fit, Marie took a keen interest in weight training to help shed those unwanted pounds. Marie continued to be passionate about fitness and utilized her skills to assist others along the way. Naturopathic healing helped her continued digestion issues such as bloating, pain, exhaustion, irritability and gas.  The final diagnosis was multiple food intolerances and allergies. After years of misdiagnosis, Marie’s digestions issues were on the mend and now her path to wellness really progressed. She now offers food sensitivity testing.

Eliminating her food intolerances helped to significantly boost her energy levels and get her back on track. Two pregnancies 15 months apart put a bump in the road. Unlike most fitness enthusiasts, Marie was unable to exercise due to extreme low back pain and other complications. Frustrated by the common myths that she would lose weight “after delivering,” “while breastfeeding,” “after the first year,” Marie took control of the situation with multiple conferences and workshops that allowed her to reshape her body and then eagerly began to help others around similar challenges.

During her postpartum journey she did rehab with Concept Physio and Pilates Connection. This started an amazing blend of Pilates Reformers and Physiotherapy. Today she not only brings her wealth of knowledge in strength training but also in her love of Pilates Reformers that were introduced to the studio in 2017. Wherever you are in your Journey Marie brings you over 25 years of health and wellness experience.

Marie has also experienced Hormonal Imbalance and Hypothyroidism which has also led her to create the ReNEWU Meal Plan. She works closely with Naturopathic Dr Kristen Read. This program includes Naturopathic visits of Thyroid, Cortisol and Hormonal Testing.

As a former dancer Ashley has always had a passion for fitness. Earning a degree in kinesiology was just the start of her journey. Ashley started teaching barre, and through the training was introduced to Pilates. Competing her courses in mat, reformer and cadillac, Ashley is excited for a lifetime of learning. Sabrina VanDerKraats

I was born and raised in the Netherlands and moved to Canada when I was 16 years old. Growing up in the Netherlands I kept busy with lots of activities, gymnastics, swimming, horseback riding but my big love was dance! To this day I still love music and dance, and I get to share this love with my daughter who has the same passion.

When we moved to Canada I continued dancing for a few more years and took up some teaching jobs at the dance studio and local gym. After my daughter was born I went back to school and worked in health care for a couple of years. I loved helping others and I learned a lot! However I felt like I was missing something big. When the opportunity came up to teach again I jumped right on it. I started teaching barre and Pilates training followed shortly after. I love teaching and I absolutely love connecting with clients. The movement of our body is so amazing and I’m so thankful I get to share my knowledge with our amazing clients everyday.

In 2017 I began my exploration into Pilates on the the Stott Tower Reformers. I was amazed at how just a few classes a week was transforming my life. I have lived with chronic shoulder pain for years. I visited various therapists and finally found healing in Pilates. I also had high blood pressure and decided that 2018 was a year of change. I started the Pilates Teacher Training with Pilates Process and I am hooked on seeing  others heal and benefit. 

I have immersed myself in learning fascial  movement in addition to furthering my education with Physio Assist Modules. Having a long career at a desk sent me searching for an exercise program to undo all those years of hunching over my keyboard. What a blessing it was for me to find Pilates. I have now been practicing Pilates for 8 years, building body awareness, strength and finding proper alignment. I am very excited to have the opportunity to share Pilates with others and look forward to continuing to learn new techniques.

I have been on a journey of getting healthier spiritually, emotionally and more importantly, physically for a few years now. Pilates was the start of that journey for me. I used to have chronic neck and shoulder pain, mostly due to poor posture, weak core muscles from two pregnancies. I started Pilates sessions and very shortly after, I not only felt, but was able to see an incredible difference in my body. As my body started to heal from the correction, my pain started to decrease significantly. 

It didn’t take long for me to realize that I wanted to make a career out of Pilates, not only for the betterment of myself but for others to experience exactly how I felt and still feel now. A life with minimal pain, a body that I can feel proud of and an inner self that has deepened in more ways than I can describe. For one of the first times in my life I made myself a priority because I was worth it!

For those of you that have been on this journey with me in getting healthy, I just want to encourage you and let you know that you are also worth it. The journey can be tough and some days you just want to give up, but I guarantee you will not regret diving into Pilates and experiencing, truly, a life changing experience through mind, body and soul. You are powerful and loved more than you know!

Miguel Cabrera

My name is Miguel Esparza, and I was born on the 22nd of December 1977, in Aguascalientes City, Mexico.

My first contact with the Pilates method was when I lived in Mexico City after being diagnosed with knee joint wear. Instead of, going directly to surgery, I could try to improve my knees with Pilates, and I did it.  

I was practicing Pilates for 1 year in Mexico City. Then I did small marketing research in my born City because I was looking for different ways to return to Aguascalientes City.  When I saw that Pilates was an option for me, I decided to study the Pilates Method with some Mexico City academies.

On March 21st, 2012, I opened the first Svelt Studio Pilates in Aguascalientes City with only four reformers and a dream in front of my eyes. After two years working with the general population, we started to receive some patients referred by health specialists as physiotherapists, traumatologists, gynaecologists and nutritionists. Afterwards, we decided to specialize in our services in pregnant, injuries and seniors.

Since that day until now, I have been taking courses and certifications in Pilates in pregnancy, functional anatomy, Pilates mat and Reformer repertoire and Total Barre with Stott Pilates.

Then, we opened the second Studio in Aguascalientes City in 2015. This Studio was amazing, and people were interested in being part of as a partner. I sold 50% of the second studio in 2018.

We launched Total Barre in 2020 before the world pandemic. During last March, we moved fast to virtual classes, and since last April, we have been working on virtual classes.

I have always been fascinated with the world of health and fitness. From cooking healthy meals to working hard in the gym, I loved it all. My curiosity to know more led me to invest in attending a Fitness Theory course through OC with high hopes to potentially go on to Weight Training then complete my Personal Training Certification. Little did we all know that a virus could affect so many of our plans in the year 2020. Only getting through my theory portion of my course, I was left feeling a bit deflated. Interestingly, a family member mentioned Bliss to me and I got in touch with Marie and that began my journey into the world of Pilates and all its benefits!

Pilates brings intentional movement with a deep mind to muscle connection. I love going into a workout with the mindset of concentration rather then to just hammer out a bunch of reps and call it good.  Contrology, as Joseph Pilates called it, expanded my understanding of how our bodies are meant to move and changed my love for health and fitness in a way I wasn’t expecting. I look forward to showing you how you can learn about mind to muscle movement with Pilates.
